Here are different examples to calculate the installation of your DIY creative project.

1-sided roof

Width X Height = _______ ft²

then and add by adding (+):
1 foot more on the height
AND
1 foot total for the width (6 inches on each side) of your measurements

Example: For a 12' X 4' panel, you will have to calculate 13' x 5' = 65 ft²

2-sided roof

Width X Height = _______
ft² (for each side)

then and add by adding (+):
1 foot more on the height
AND
1 foot total for the width (6 inches on each side) of your measurements X 2 (for each of the sides)

NOTE:
2-sided structures require linear ridge caps (accessories). Each linear ridge spans 3' linear (after overlap).

Example: For a 12' X 4' panel, you will have to calculate 13' x 5' = 65 ft²
x 2 sections = 130 ft²

And, you will need to add 5 ridges

4-sided roof
For a slope of 6/12:

Width X Length X 1.7 = _______ ft²

* The total of this measurement includes the doubled border as well as the quantity necessary for the 4 corners.

For a 10/12 slope:

Width X Length X 1.9 = _______ ft²

* The total of this measurement includes the doubled border as well as the quantity necessary for the 4 corners.

NOTE:
Structures with 4 sides of square shapes require 1 round cap.
Rectangular 4-sided structures require one or more ridge cap(s).
Each linear ridge spans 3' linear (after overlap) .

For a round structure (hexagon or octagon)

X-ray by itself X by 3.1416 X by slope ratio (1.7 or 1.9)

area of a circle  = π × r a y o n ²   A = π r 2

( π = 3.1416)

Example:
Width 10' in diameter
Radius = 5' (half the diameter)

Slope 6/12:
5' X 5' = 25' X 3.1416 = 78'54'' (area) X 1.7 = 133.52 ft2

Slope 10/12:
5' X 5' = 25' X 3.1416 = 78'54'' (area) X 1.9 = 149.23 ft2

NOTE:

Round structures (octagonal or hexagonal) require 1 round hat.
